Bright and Beautiful Christmas Card

This card makes me think of the manger scene, a simple wooden crib with a beautiful star overhead, the baby Jesus bringing peace and joy...It also reminds me of the Christmas tree, bright star on the top and peace and joy on every one's minds.
Christmas Card - Peace and Joy on a Hardwood TIEF with the Bright and Beautiful star
cut with the coordinating Star Framelits

The star is from Bright and Beautiful, out of the new Holiday Catalog. I stamped it in Daffodil Delight, and then cut it out with the coordinating Star Framelits. I used the scoring blade on my Stampin' Trimmer to score from the tip of each star point to the center, and then lightly folded on the score lines to get the 3D raised look. Attached to the card with Dimensionals it adds a little pop. The cardstock and ink are Daffodil Delight, with Whisper White for the embossed layer.
Scored lines with a light fold for a 3D effect
Another Friday closer to Christmas! Let me know if you want to start working on Christmas Cards - we can get them done early!! ;-)

August 2014 Paper Pumpkin - Alternate Card Ideas

Seriously Amazing Kit August 2014
This months Paper Pumpkin kit was Seriously Amazing. ;-) Yes, it was! 8 cards and some pretty cool envelopes, with enough extra supplies to make more cards, or use for other projects!
I'm sharing some of my alternate projects this week, made using the supplies from the kit.

Paper Pumpkin August 2014 - Alternate with "Bokeh" Technique
Ok. Maybe not the standard Bokeh technique, but I tried my version! LOL I used sponge daubers and dabbed Strawberry Slush and Hello Honey over the whole card, trying to get the circular sponge rather than the usual soft blend with the daubers. Next I added some sponge dauber circles in Metallic Gold Encore Pad. Then I used the dot stamp from this months kit and added some more gold. Adding some sponge dauber dabs of Whisper white, and then the sprinkle of dots from Endless Wishes in Strawberry Slush, and then I had to STEP AWAY FROM THE CARD....
LOL Trimmed down and mounted on a siple white base, a little yellow bakers twine at the top, DONE!
and then I added the pink kit seqins and a gold one from the Gold Seqin Trim. OK now done... ok...

August 2014 Paper Pumpkin Kit and Endless Wishes
This one was also an exercise in excess... I used some words from the Endless Wishes set, in Hello Honey and Mossy Meadow stamped randomly across the die cut. I had to layer the Mossy meadow because it had just become a blur of yellow! I added the pink seqins again - love those! - and mounted it over a Strawberry Slush cardstock layer. I used half of a card base from the original kit and mounted that onto a Hello Honey base. It reminds me of a Year Book, or maybe graffiti. What do you think?

August 2014 Paper Pumpkin Alternate Idea - Gift Tag
This last one today is a Gift Tag. I used one of the smaller cards from the kit, a banner from the kit, and one of those card bases I had cut down. Added the circe and thread to the corner, and its a cute little tie on. An easy alternate.

I hope you've enjoyed these alternate ideas this week. The offer for HALF OFF your forst two kits is still going through September 10th! Take advantage of it and TRY IT! These kits are fun! Find out more on my blog post HERE.

Paper Pumpkin August 2014 - Alternate Idea - Cards

The Seriously Amazing kit this month from My Paper Pumpkin was so pretty and bright! I am sharing a few alternate ideas this week, her are a couple cards I made:
Paper Pumpkin Alternate Card - August 2014
I cut the card bases in the kit in half and mounted them onto solid color cardstock bases. On the Smile card I just used a 2" piece of the original striped card base to tuck behind the die cut word, and I popped the white layer up on some dimensionals. I stamped it with two stamps from the kit, the dot and the saying You Are Seriously Amazing, and added sequins. Not too far off from the original design, but I got some extra streach out of the supplies by splitting up the card base.
August 2014 Alternate Card Idea - My Paper Pumpkin
This card I used half of a card base from the kit, mounted onto a Mossy Meadow base, with a Mossy Meadow layer under the die cut word. I flipped the diecut to the side, and cut the green layer with a Scallop Border punch. The sentiment You Are Seriously Amazing is tucked into the die cut space, and I stamped some Hello Honey dots around to draw attention to it. A couple sequins finish it off.

August 2014 Paper Pumpkin - Hello Diecut with Project Life Framelit Set
This card was tricky. I wanted the diecut center of half of the base to be a little larger than the die cut of the word. I used the Project Life Framelits to cut them, repositioning and shifting the die to shave a little extra off the sides. I popped the stiped base up with Dimensionals, and then placed the white word in the center onto the Strawberry Slush base. Added some of the pink sequins.

I hope your encouraged to try something new with the kit supplies, you don't HAVE to follow the included instructions. The supplies are top quality and fun to use to challenge your creativity.

Even if you are an 'Advanced' crafter and feel these are intended for new crafters (( They Are!! :-)) I think you can still find value and motivation with each monthly kit. Its good to have an easy craft to fall back on for those stressful days - everything is included in the box, no searching for supplies, or getting out the whole kit and caboodle... Just open the box, and enjoy a quick 30 minute project with all the work done for you. Instructions, precut, prescored, self adheive die cut pieces or included adhesives, all embellishments... Make it easy on yourself!

If you're looking for some mojo, try it out! Open the box and throw out those instructions! Let yourself play with the supplies and enjoy some free time. Use it for one of those challenges, try a new technique, get together with your friends and vote on whose creation is most fabulous! (Winner buys dessert!)

I love the playful nature of these kits, I really hope you take advantage of the special HALF OFF Offer and try it out! No obligation, get Half Off your forst two months, and then you're free to cancel... Or - enjoy a membership with flexibility. Alternate Project Idea - Garlands - My Paper Pumpkin August 2014

Seriously Amazing!
Yes, yes it is! August Kit for My Paper Pumpkin is called Seriously Amazing, because - IT IS!
The kit itself includes 8 card bases, 12 card panels, 16 banners, a stamp set, unique envelopes in coordinated colors with a fancy closure, and enough colored circles and brads and sequins to equip a small glam band! There are detailed instructions to complete the professionally designed project, and a stamp set and ink are included too! I know RIGHT?!? So much stuff!

I'm sharing my ALTERNATE ideas with you this week... I had a ton of supplies left over, so I made some alternate card ideas with my other kit ( I order two so I can make one and play with one ;) and with the left overs from both kits I made These garlands!
Angela Bodas Paper Pumpkin Garland August 2014
My Paper Pumpkin August 2014 Alternate Idea - Garland!
The heart cards are punched in the corner, and the circle closures are added with the brad holding them on. I have a large circle at the back and a smaller one in the front. I looped them onto the Linen Thread every 6 inches, and then added folded banners glued over the thread to make pennants.

The Smaller Cards punched in the corners, with 2 circles & a brad
Garland from Circle and punched pieces of the card bases, Sequins on the large circles,
all glued back to back across Linen Thread
The circle garland was fun! I punched two scraps of the card bases with the 7/8 Scallop Circle punch, and glued them back to back onto the thread, but between each one I threaded two small circles (alternating colors front and back) and then glued a large circle (same color front and back) and then threaded another small circle set. Then glued another punched scallop.... and so on! Sequins were added to the centers of the large circles. Together the two garlands are pretty festive - for a birthday or for fun, I'm sure you could find a place to hang these!
Paper Pumpkin August 2014 - Garland

Fall Preview of the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog

My Sunday truly was a FUNday this weekend! I attended my up-up-lines Fall Preview Party where everyone brought a sample card for us to CASE, using items from the soon-to-be-released Holiday Catalog! (( AUGUST 28th, people!! ))
**Photo Heavy Post - lots of cards, my designs are at the end! Keeeep reading! Please and Thank You!

My two cards and some of the awesome cards I got to make!
The idea of the party is that each Demo designs a card using Holiday Catalog items, then packs a shoe-box with the inks, stamps, embossing folders, punches and/or framelits for the card - everything but the paper & embellishments, basically. We bring our paper and tools, then we swap boxes and make the cards! Its nice because you get to use sets you maybe didn't get (yet;) and we try to swap and share DSP or embellishments so everyone can go home with a sample. I love that we can make these ourselves, being free to change up or follow the sample closely.

These are the cards I made, sticking to the provided samples:

Our hostess Bev has an amazing craft room, its chock full of inspiration!! These are the cards she designed for us.The wreath card is made by punching the snowflake from tissue paper, folding it in half, and adhering it to a circle die cut from the Circle Framelits.
Fall Fest Bundle 137628 (stamps and framelits) with
Happy Halloween from Making Spirits Bright 135806
Snowflake Card Thinlits Dies 135855 and On Point Embossing Folder 135876
The red Pearls are made by coloring white pearls with the Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities
You can visit Bev's blog Stampin' All Day with Bev HERE

This next card is by my Upline Julie Douglas, I love the stars on the Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper! This is a very detailed card, but the finished product is just adorable!!
Motley Monsters DSP 135819 and Fall Fest Bundle (stamps and framleits) 137628
You can visit Julie's blog Stamp Your Dream HERE

This beautiful card was designed for us by Kim Molesworth. I love the color scheme from the DSP All is Calm. And the Tree punch is going to be awesome!!
All is Calm DSP 135823 Festival of Trees Bundle (stamps and punch) 135859
You can see more of Kim's work HERE

These two cards were designed for us by Lorraine Toll. Very colorful and festive!
Filagree Frame Embossing Folder 135818, Festival of Trees Bundle (stamps and punch) 135059

Four Feathers Bundle (stamps and framelits) 137630,
Color Me Autumn Washi Tape 135842, Holiday Invitation 135074

You can see more of Lorraines work HERE

This card was created for us by Cary Farruggia. It uses the new heavy weight Under the Tree DSP for the background. Spooky!!
Under the Tree DSP 135825, Lucky Stars embossing folder 135817,
and Tee-Hee-Hee stamp set 135125
Visit Cary's blog Cary's On Your CASE HERE

These two cards are mine! I made them using the Motley Monster Designer Series Paper, which I bought on a whim JUST SO I COULD MAKE THE CUTE FRAME on page 44 of the catalog!! :-) But, I also made these cards to share, because when I got the paper in my hands, I was pleased to see how it works for Halloween, but ALSO how well it works for Fall and Autumn cards! This is great, because I find that I don't really do all that much for Halloween OR Thanksgiving, so having one pack of paper that works for both is pretty cool! The wood grain pattern is great for masculine cards, the bermuda bay Star pattern is just stinkin' cute, and its one of those rare packs where I actually like EVERY pattern! #Winning!!  Ok. So on to the cards!! :-))

Motley Monsters DSP 135819, Good Greetings Hostess Exclusive
I did two cards with basically the same layout, but used different patterns to show the Halloween/Fall possibilities. The Good Greetings set will work for almost every holiday in the year, and a few other cards! Great set!!
Motley Monsters DSP 135819, Good Greetings Hostess Exclusive

I really enjoyed getting together with everyone, its one of the things at the top of the "Why I Love Stampin'!" list!! The theme of the new catalog is also getting together - Gatherings. I love that there are so many products and projects to use for family gatherings - if its putting together treats for the kids class for Halloween, making a Boo-tiful wreath for your door with friends, or making a Thankful Countdown calendar, setting the most grateful Thanksgiving table for family and friends. Then there are the Winter projects!!! You won't want to miss the gift box making, wrapping ideas to make you squeal in delight, and then... The Christmas Cards... You will want to make at least 100 to give out, they are just so cheerful and happy!! (The Dancin' Santa's?? Bwahahaha!!)

Get ready to shop this Thursday!!!

Bright and Beautiful, Star Framelits, Perfect Polka Dots TIEF, and Good Greetings
This one is in the same color combo as yesterday, Soft Sky and Whisper White. The embossing folder used is Perfect Polka Dots, and the sparkly paper is the Glimmer Paper in Silver. Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter is used in the shaker, and its pretty glitzy in person!!

Bright and Beautiful & Good Greetings { sneak peek }

In less than a week now the Holiday Catalog goes live! Some of you may have gotten yours in the mail already - if not, hop over to my store and create an account so I can send one to you!!

Here is a shaker card I made using the Star Framelits with the soon-to-be-released Bright and Beautiful star stamp set from the Holiday Catalog, and a sentiment from the exclusive Hostess Gift set Good Greetings! This set will only be available to my Hostesses, I'll have more info for you when the catalog goes live on how you can get your set!

Good Greetings and Bright and Beautiful Shaker Card with Perfect Polka Dots TIEF and Soft Sky cardstock
A shaker card has a built in layer that can hold confetti, or sequins, or glitter - here I used Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter. I stamped my star image (from the Holiday Catalog set Bright and Beautiful) and diecut a star from a piece of Window Sheet. I cut the very edge of my Stampin' Dimensionals sheet to get the straight edges enclosed on my star and create that window effect. I added the glitter, and placed the window sheet over the top. I then glued my Soft Sky star frame - cut with the nested star framelits - over the top and added the whole piece to my card.

Shaker Card Construction  - Bright and Beautiful star stamp
Here is another card I did the same way - just using a different sentiment from Good Greetings! This layout would also work with the Heart Framelits, or the Festive Flurry snowflake framelits, or... well, almost ANY of our framelits - there are a bunch of nested shapes like this! Take a look HERE. I think this would be a good embellishment for a bag tag or a scrapbook page too. Kind of fun!
Good Greetings believe

The holidays will be upon us before you know it - let me help you with your party decor or card giving needs! And, stay tuned for the special offer for Hostesses!
Happy Crafting!

Lullaby and Good Greetings { sneak peek }

Lullaby Designer Series Paper and a layered label punch for the Good Greetings Sentiment
Pistachio Pudding, Hello Honey Ribbon (somehow, not laying straight in this photo, but perfectly fine in person!! ;->) Coastal Cabana layered with Pistachio, and the sentiment Celebrate from the Good Greetings stamp set (Coming soon, a HOSTESS EXCLUSIVE just for holding a party! More Details coming out with the Holiday Catalog release on August 28th!)

I layered the Coastal Cabana Decorative Label punch at the back, a circle punch of Pistachio with the sentiment stamped off and repeated in Baked Brown Sugar, then the Modern Label punch in Coastal, with the Pistachio Word Label and the sentiment stamped in Coastal Cabana. Whew! Easier done than said! LOL

I'm loving this Designer Series paper. I got it originally for the sweet baby cards and projects, but really the colors are so cool!! They can go with almost any sentiment and occasion. Ya know, if you put the ribbons on straight! ;-P

Perfect Pennants & Lullaby Designer Series Paper

Lullaby DSP and Perfect Pennants, Decorative Dots TIEF and Decorative Label Punch
Lullaby Designer Series Paper. It's not just for kiddies! Although it IS sweet and has those appropriately PC hues of blue & pink; it also has a pastel modern flair, with the golds, corals and teals. And then, of course, there are the great patterns... Like this one! Hearts!
Subtle but fitting for the sentiment Me & You from Perfect Pennants. Partners in crime, lovers, old married couples, encouragement & support... Me & You can be so many relationships! I think this card says
"The road may be bumpy, but with our love, me & you have a smoother trip."

{ crickets }

I know. It's late. :-D I do tend to be rather  mushy in the midnight hour!

So! This delicious bit of sappyness has Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe, and Hello Honey, on a baked Brown Sugar cardstock base; with the Decorative Dots Textured Embossing Folder, Decorative Label Punch, Brights Candy Dots, and the Lullaby Designer Paper. Oh, and the sentiment from Perfect Pennants stamped in Baked Brown Sugar.

Happy Wednesday!!!
as always, Happy Crafting!

Good Greetings { sneak peek } and Six Sided Sampler

Hexagon. Your shape is so symmetrical, I am thankful for your order in an un-orderly world. I am thankful for you!
Yes, I do get punchy sometimes with the midnight crafting! ;)
Six Sided Sampler in In-Colors 2014-16: Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow, and Blackberry Bliss; on a Blackberry cardstock base with a Whisper White layer. The sentiment, from the soon-to-be-released special set for party hosts, is one of the Good Greetings.
I liked the use of the banner through the punched hexagon, and it works perfectly with these sentiments because of their smaller size. Card CASEd from Fran Sabads layout last year.

Two-for Tuesday comin' atcha!! Check back this afternoon!

Feel Goods and Bloom with Hope - Pallet Art

There are (more than) a few Pinterest ideas for DIY Pallet art that I have on my To-Do list!! I've been thinking about trying it on a card, too. It takes some bold lettering to split in the pallet look, but I will try it again in the 'reclaimed boards solid look' too!
Anyhow, today's card:

Feel Goods sentiment The Best Things in Life aren't Things, with a flower image from the Bloom with Hope set. The background stamp is Hardwood.

The colors I used are Pool Party, Lost Lagoon, Baked Brown Sugar, and a splash of Hello Honey.

There are a few techniques I was considering to get the white-washed, distressed look, none of which worked with my creating while watching the baby! LOL So I went with just stamping the Hardwood stamp in Pool Party on Whisper White, and going back over it with Baked Brown Sugar. I colored in the flower using my Stampin' Write Markers.

Definitely a card I will try again, but I am pleased with my first attempt! Got any suggestions for me?
Make it a great Monday!
Happy Crafting!

Confetti Celebration - Amazing Birthday

Another flip card, this one uses the stamp set Amazing Birthday with Confetti Celebration papers again. I split the big "Make Today Ridiculously Amazing" stamp into two parts, masking is a lovely thing!

Amazing Birthday Flip Card with Confetti Celebration Paper
This is the card using the Thinlits Label Card die for the Big Shot, I add the extra flap on the right by folding the 8.5x6" cardstock just inside the die edge before I cut. Then I trimmed down the inside edge to fit the flip part. I like this added room for writing, but its totally optional! The card is cute as cut! ;-)
If you add that flap though, you have a sweet spot to add a little gift card, or some candy, or cash... something to help make the day Ridiculously amazing! LOL

Amazing Birthday on Thinlits Label Card with Confetti Celebration DSP
Amazing Birthday on the Thinlits Label Card die with Confetti Celebration DSP
The nice thing about this stamp set, is that despite its name "Amazing Birthday", it can actually be used for quite a few OTHER occasions! This card for example. It could be for a special day - First day of school, first day on a new job, a special recognition day, the start of a vacation, or just a day someone needs a little bit of encouragement or cheering!
The rest of the set is like that, versatile! Thank yous, celebrations/congratulations, encouragement, gifts, gift tags... you really get more than just a birthday set. And you know, I love a versatile set!!

Confetti Celebration - Let Your Hair Down

Using the Hostess set Let Your Hair Down again. :-) This set's name kills me. But, I do love some of the sentiments! Here I used For a True Friend on the front of the Label Thinlits Card:
Thinlits Label Card using Hostess Set Let Your Hair Down
The Designer Series Paper is Confetti Celebration, and I am in love with this orange pattern!! The Thinlits Label Card is a neat little die-cut card, I add an extra flap to the side by folding the cardstock (6" by 8.5" just inside the right edge of the die. This leave it uncut and I trim and fold it under the Flip part. I think this just gives someone the option to write a little more, as well as adding a little privacy if you want to share your card but not the love note! ;-)

Thinlits Label Card with Confetti Celebration DSP and Hostess Set Let Your Hair Down
The colors seem a little off :-/ sorry - you can see them best in the first photo. Its Pistachio and Hello Honey cardstock, with a little Tangelo Twist. When I add the extra flap, I do feel I need to add a belly band to hold it closed. This card when folded does fit in a standard A2 envelope. I don't have the folding motion recorded for you, but perhaps I'll add it to my Instagram...

Hope you get some time to craft this weekend, we have a busy Saturday planned, but hopefully a quiet Sunday!

Moonlight Bloom with Hope

I have avoided sympathy cards. They make me sad to make them, and I don't particularly care to dwell in sadness. But. If I change my thinking, to remember that sympathy cards are to carry wishes, thoughts or memories that are meant to comfort and lift up those sunken in grief... Well then, how can I Not make sympathy cards?!?

This set uses the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack, all Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, and Hello Honey, with a dab of Sahara Sand and Basic Gray. The note cards are 3.5x5" and the paper stack is 4.5x6.5" So you'd be able to use 1 sheet on two cards, or use 1 sheet as a background and cut up half as the pennants. The stamp set is one of the Hostess Sets you can only get when your purchases, or your party's purchases, reach $150. (Or you can get it on special pre-order at a nice price, another perk of being a Demonstrator!) This stamp set, Blooms of Hope, has some beautiful flowers, and a variety of sentiments. It has a lovely phrase for inside these cards - "As time and memory bring healing, may comfort and hope bloom in your heart. "

This little set is easy to make, you can quickly make a few to have on hand with just a couple of supplies. You can see the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack HERE and the Note Cards (a set of 20 with envelopes!) HERE in my online store. The hostess set could easily be swapped for another set, like Thoughts and Prayers, or Gifts of Kindness (click on their names to see them in the store, both pretty versatile sets.)

Thank You Cards - Let Your Hair Down

I made a simple little set of Thank You cards to give to a friend. They're flowery and sweet, without being too fussy.

Let Your Hair Down Hostess Set and All Abloom Paper Stack
All Abloom, trimmed to fit the notecard left a scrap to decorate the front of the envelope.
The Thank You sentiment is stamped on different complementary cardstocks.
This one I accented the flowers with our Basic Jewels Pearls

Good Greetings, Elegant Butterfly Punch, and some Thick Bakers Twine in Canteloupe
on a simple belly band made from coordinating cardstock make a sweet presentation.

This is a simple little set of four note cards and envelopes. The sentiment stamp used on all of them is the same, from the hostess set Let Your Hair Down (you can only get this set free with Hostess Rewards). The Designer Series Paper Stack All Abloom has 4 sheets of each pattern here, plus a bunch more!! You could make quite a few sets with one pack of Note Cards (20 cards and envelopes), and a pack of this paper (48 4.5x6.5 sheets).
